Pippi-Abby-Longstocking

This morning while we were getting ready to go to Grandma Bleyenburg during my P.E. classes, Abby wanted pigtails and braids. I got the first braid finished and let go and it just sprung up. I had to stop myself from laughing so Abby wouldn't want to take them out. Pippi I thought--maybe it is because its fresh on my mind, since Jaedyn had that book home from school. Too cute--they didn't stay in to long.

Tuesday

Strawberry Cake Cake

Abby loves to color--she got a new coloring book, "Strawberry Cake Cake". I think coloring might be gender liked or disliked in our family. Blake on Beginner's Day had a picture to color and didn't, thought his cousin Olivia would like to color it for him. It probably would have been all right, but Olivia didn't like her crayons to get dull. Zach and Tyler never cared for it much either--all though they do excellent map coloring at school. Jaedyn has always loved to color as much as her mom did when she was little--Abby is hopefully following in those footsteps. I will never forget the coloring contest I won in 2nd grade--I got to have my picture taken for the local newspaper. Oh the joys of coloring!

Friday

Fair Oaks Dairy Farm

During Teacher's Break last week we went to check out the dairy farm with Jeff this time and Aunt Leah and her kids. It seems that my two oldest boys find it easier to do these kind of things if they have their cousins along, also for me--as they stay happier longer. We did get to see a calf being born, jumped on the new huge jumping pillow, toured the dairy part of the farm, had some awesome ice cream and got to watch a 4-D movie. Abby loved the cows and had to give them a hug before we left.

Wednesday

Going Back

I have to go back to August and show you some pics from Jeff's fishing trip to Canada. My dad took all the boys on a fishing trip to Canada for three full days of fishing. They had a good time and loved having their own fishing guides who made awesome shore lunches. Jeff caught the biggest Northern and captured the $40.00 prize. They all had their fill of fishing and came home with what they could of the fish and alot of good memories and stories. Ted came home with some recipes from the Lodge where they ate, Audra made it for Sunday coffee and it was very good.

Volleyball Season '07 Completed

We had our last game of the season tonight against Trinity Lutheran. It was a good game and we won in three. We will only lose two seniors next year -- so we should have a pretty good team. We are also excited that next year we will be in our new school/new gym! The grade school is also done with volleyball -- they had their tournament last Friday and Saturday. The seventh grade took 2ND place, they played awesome. They lost to Lansing. The eighth grade had a rough start and just weren't playing like they could have. Now it is on to Basketball for the grade school, I think we have 12 games scheduled. My niece, Jocelyn got pulled up for Western's Varsity Team, I hope they make it to State--she said it will not even be a problem. Jeff and I hope to go and watch if they make it.

Zach's Soccer Season

Zach has his last soccer game of the season tomorrow against Calvin. They haven't won any games yet--they only have one 8th grader, so they had to pull up some 6th graders. Zach has scored at least one goal in every game. I think tomorrow he will try and play goalie, he played five minutes in the last game and loved it. I haven't seen too many games--while they are playing I am coaching the volleyball teams. Hope they win tomorrow.

Monday

Abby's 3rd Birthday!

Abby is three! It doesn't seem right that my baby is three already--she tells me I am not a baby I am big girl now--she is so right. We celebrated on Saturday night with everyone at our house. We opened all the gifts and she loved everyone of them and couldn't wait to play with them or try them on. We then grilled brats and hot dogs and enjoyed just hanging out and being outside or watching the end of some football games. We also had some Strawberry Cake Cake as Abby calls it that Grandma Bleyenburg made for her. We had a great party! One little funny from Abby--when her dad prayed before we ate he prayed for her and that she was turning three and she made a little gasp and her eyes flew opened and then realized that she better closed them again as everyone else had their eyes closed(except for her mom, who had a little smile on her face along with the Grandmas). We love you, Abby--you big girl!

Wednesday

County Line Orchard

On Saturday we went to the Apple Orchard with Grandpa and Grandma Zylstra. It was a beautiful day. We picked some apples, mostly Honey Crisps--they were so good. We tried to find our way through a corn maze. We went in as two groups, but didn't last too long--Blake and Abby were tired of walking so I took them back out and went to the children's maze play area. We went thru the petting farm and feed some goats and rode the Moo-Choo ride! We sampled some good pumkin donuts and apple cider. We had a great day!

Blog Pressure

Since I was the one to tell Tanya, my sister-in-law, that I would set up a blog for our family and then she beat me to it with her own blog -- I have followed with setting up our own family blog. It is a nice way to stay connected with family and friends as well as a space to keep track of what our family is up to and the memories we are making along the way.
